Jenn Panko, RVT, CCRP, VTS Physical Rehabilitation, OCMC, CAPMC
Meet Your Pet's New Best Friend......
You and your pets are sure to have a positive experience working with Jenn. She combines a gentle and positive approach to rehabilitation sessions with a spunky, positive can-do attitude. Along with being a lot of fun Jenn has a wide variety of experience in orthopedic, neurologic, weight loss, and fitness rehabilitation. She is always willing to spend extra time with worried pet owners to answer their questions and work collaboratively with them to provide their pet with an effective treatment program. Her clinical experience includes a variety of work in private, referral, and academic companion animal practice, mobile, racetrack, and surgical equine practice, and wildlife rehabilitation.
She is a Registered Veterinary Technologist (Seneca College, Ontario 2005) where she was the recipient of The Veterinary Technology Recognition and Appreciation Award for dedication to and excellence in animal care. The summer following graduation she completed an internship at The Island Wildlife Natural Care Centre rehabilitating injured and orphaned harbour seals, wildlife, and birds. She began her career in veterinary physical rehabilitation in 2006 at The Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital and Referral Group coordinating CARE, The Companion Animal Rehabilitation Experts Rehabilitation Service. She also managed The Neurology and MRI Service where she developed her veterinary nursing skills and mastered the skills necessary to help paralyzed pets regain their mobility. She completed The University of Tennessee’s Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner Program in 2006. In 2012 she completed the University of Tennessee’s Certified Osteoarthritis Case Management Program and was the recipient of The Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians Award of Merit for enhancing the image of the veterinary technology profession and a long standing history of community service for her volunteer work teaching children and adults with diverse abilities therapeutic horseback riding lessons. In 2014 she completed the University of Tennessee’s Companion Animal Pain Management Certificate Program. She obtained her Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS Physical Rehabilitation) in 2017 and is a Charter Member of The Academy of Physical Rehabilitation Veterinary Technicians (APRVT.) In 2018 she became a Fear Free Certified Professional and has incorporated many fear free techniques into sessions at The SPAW. Prior to relocating to the west coast she coordinated The Companion Animal Rehabilitation Service at The Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph.
She is excited to share her skills with The SPAW clients and externship students. Jenn often lectures and teaches at veterinary meetings and conferences. She believes a comprehensive rehabilitation program achieves 'mobility for longevity, happy pets, and happy people.' When not at the SPAW she can be found teaching large animal farm laboratory sessions for the Veterinary Technology Program at Douglas College and enjoying the great outdoors camping and hiking with her son Connor, riding her retired Standardbred racehorse “Player”, or spending time with her dog "Wheagles" and her cat "RockinRhonda."
